A leisurely drive down through East Texas including a visit with my Nephew at Stephen F. Austin University, then down through Beaumont and along the coast to Galvestion. Several nights at the San Luis Resort in Galveston and we were much more relaxed! Got in a visit to the beach and the Galveston Aquarium and sadly watched the Cowboys lose to the Redskins.

| A full day of a road rally from Sachse, to Paris TX. A lot of fun but we did VERY poorly as usual. |
| The Big Hail Storm | April 11 2016 |
| OK, so this is non-travel related, but it is notable. This was the day of the big hail storm in Wylie. Lois just beat the storm home by about 2 minutes and got June in the garage. We had fist sized hail that destroyed the roof, broke out two windows shredded the siding and totalled tha Armada. But we got off lucky! The hail was larger on the other side of town and folks had hail breaking through the roof causing a LOT more damage. |
| Jimmy Buffett Concert - Frisco TX | May 28th, 2016 |
OK, actually just tailgating as we never made it to the concert. This one ended poorly. I overdid it in the hot day an ended up with a Hernia! I ended up spending eight days in the hospital after surgery. Not fUn!

- For the first time ever, we got second place in Novice class! - For the first time ever, we placed in the top half of all contestants (9th of 22) - Found Jordan's BBQ in Farmersville. Not the best BBq, but good and a really neat place with an old fashioned Soda Fountain / bar. |

Carnival Vista - (3934 passengers) This was a cruise to celebrate Chad's 50th birthday (a couple of weeks late). We never even got off of the ship!!! This cruise was also about 3 weeks before the Covid19 outbreak that shut down most of the world including the entire cruise industry. About this same time, our friend Kevin had a cruise delayed 2 or 3 days because the previous cruise had passengers suspected of having Covid (they did not). Our friend Richard cruised 2 weeks after we did and was one of the last cruises out before the shutdown. It's been a crazy ride! As I write this we're still all working from home and having to wear masks to go to "essential" businesses.

Spent a long weekend at a beach house in Galveston with friends (Kevin, Richard, Robert) to celebrate Lois 50th birthday! It was a great and relaxing time right on the beach and the first post-(during?)-pandemic travel. We had a great time until we where chased out by then Tropical Storm Nicholas! Nicholas ended up making landfall as a Category 1 Hurricane about 70 miles WSW of where we stayed. It's good that we got out but it kind of sucked losing a day of vacation. |

| Spent a couple of days at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. We really like this place, but neither of us was feeling great. So we mostly enjoyed room service, some people watching and hanging out watching March Madness and Battle Bots! |

| Finally got away for a little bit of fun. Drove down to Round Rock and took my Parent's to lunch to celebrate their 80th birthdays. Then spent a couple of nights at the Embassy Suites in Round Rock. Got some actual rest and relaxation including a drive into the countryside East of Round Rock and Georgetown. We found a little fruit farm and some decent scenery. |
